Sea conditions right now
Rough seas are the main reason fast boats are delayed or cancelled. These estimates come from wave-height forecasts at each port. They're a guide, not a promise: the operator and the port authority decide on the day.
Based on published wave-height thresholds for fast boats and ferries in Indonesia. Not a guarantee. Always check with your operator before you travel.
Sanur: the easy port
Sanur is the convenient port if you are staying in South or Central Bali. It is about 25 minutes from Kuta, 40 to 50 minutes from Canggu and 45 to 60 minutes from Ubud, so you avoid the long drive east to Padang Bai.
The trade-off is the sea. Sanur is further from the Gilis than Padang Bai, so the crossing takes longer and can be rougher in the wetter months. Check the sea conditions below before you commit to a date.
Direct or via Nusa Penida?
Some boats from Sanur call at Nusa Penida on the way to the Gilis, which makes a longer day but lets you drop in on Nusa. Compare the arrival times in the table to spot them.
The times on this page are guides taken from the booking site. Check-in is usually an hour before departure, but go by the time on your ticket.
